The 2025 World Archery Youth Championships took place in Winnipeg, Canada, from 20 to 24 August 2025. The start was pushed back from the scheduled 17 August after industrial action at Air Canada disrupted travel for many teams.

The championships are contested in two age groups, under-21 and under-18, across recurve and compound.

Korea's team depth

Korean teams reached all four recurve team finals in Winnipeg. The under-18 men's and women's teams and the under-21 women's team all met Chinese Taipei in their finals, while the under-21 men faced the United States.

The upsets

Great Britain's Alex Sillitoe-Price beat Korea's Park Myung-jae, who had already won two gold medals in Winnipeg, in the under-18 recurve men's final. India's Sharvari Shende then took the under-18 women's title with a 10 against a 9 in the deciding shoot-off arrow against Kim Ye-won.

Why it matters

Two names from Winnipeg reappeared in senior headlines within a year. Chikitha Taniparthi was part of the Indian women's compound team that equalled the world record to win gold at the 2026 Asian Games, and also won the mixed team title there that secured India's LA28 Olympic quota. Youth results are the clearest early indicator of which nations' development systems are producing the next generation of medallists.
